Liz’s Professional Web-Portfolio
“If you want to understand today, you have to search yesterday” ~Pearl Buck
My name is Liz Greer. I am twenty-four years old and working on my master’s degree in secondary education for social studies. I have always been involved in social studies and think it is a crucial part of American culture. I am very excited about becoming a teacher and I feel I am committed to giving my all to my students. I will be obtaining my degree in December 2009. I plan on making the most of this opportunity, to be able to help students make their own connection to the past.
My Teaching Philosophy
Literally, my teaching philosophy is to help students make their own connection to the past while helping them to learn the curriculum. Obviously teaching is all about making sure the students understand the curriculum that is required of them, but I also want to make sure that my students are actually able to retain the information. This is so important because many teachers just walk through the material, they never inspire. Every person is unique and has their own way to learn and their own passions, I want to help them gain their own persepctive on their studies.
The Purpose of My Portfolio
Looking throughout my weblog you will see that the purpose of my portfolio is to help lay out all the work I have done to reach my teaching goals. You can find some of the achievements I have received as well as some of my past work.
